Musical Theatre and Singing
Our Musical Theatre classes are our most popular here at Top Hat Theatre School.
In every West End Musical, it is the infamous "triple threat" that gains leading roles
A performer who can sing, dance and act.... all at the same time!
We combine the three musical theatre genres : singing, dancing and acting, to combine all three to produce a full length production each year.
Our Musical Director is West End MD, Steve Geere, who puts the kids through their paces teaching harmonies and the musical score for our full production shows.
The exciting part of having your training at Top Hat... our teachers are ex West End performers themselves!
Our teachers have performed in musicals such as Wicked, Starlight Express, Footloose, Singin in the Rain, High School Musical, Grease, Mama Mia, Boogie Nights, Miss Saigon and many more..... imagine how exciting for the students to learn exact choreography and vocals from the West End shows.
We are also very lucky, to produce a junior and senior Musical Theatre production each year with a full West End show live band with our very own West End musical director. This really brings our performances to life, allowing our students the opportunity to use radio mics, and work with a live band which is just a wonderful opportunity.
Here is a clip from this years Musical Theatre show, Sister Act.
Our Musical director for this show was from London's West End, Steve Geere.
Steve works closely with the one and only Gary Barlow.
What a wonderful opportunity for the kids to work with such a prestigious figure in the business.
Our Singing Classes are led by professional teachers, and our in house Musical director at the piano.
With great experience in teaching children and nurturing their confidence.
We build knowledge and an understanding of using the voice correctly to avoid damage whilst singing.
Our teachers create a trusting environment whilst having fun learning songs and vocal harmonies from all vocal genres; Musical Theatre to Disney to Pop.
Students are encouraged to sing in groups, and with a little more confidence, solo.
Each lesson begins with a vocal warm up to strengthen, and prepare the voice to sing technically correct. This class is a fun class... Watching a shy student turn into a blossoming flower with new found confidence is a thrill in itself.
If your child shows flair.... singing festivals are encouraged to help perform under pressure and in front of an audience.
A highlight in our yearly calender is our Musical Theatre Presentation at Moulton Theatre, a quaint theatre where our students perform solo in front of an audience with only a piano to accompany them..... the sense of achievement from each child after their performance is priceless.....
